We are delighted to share news that West Papua has been included in the UK Labour Party's election manifesto. In making this commitment, West Papua's right to self-determination will become a core element of UK foreign policy under a future Labour Government.

Thank you to everyone who responded to the callout in our last newsletter asking the Labour Party to include it during their consultation.

The Free West Papua Campaign has the support of politicians from across the UK political spectrum, and we urge supporters to continue your efforts lobbying your MP - no matter which party they are members of - to raise the issue of West Papua.

We have created a template letter you can download and send to your MP, encouraging them to join the All Party Parliamentary Group for West Papua which meets in the Houses of Parliament, Westminster.

Next Sunday marks the annual global flagraising for West Papua, and the 58th anniversary of the first raising of West Papua’s symbol of independence, the Morning Star Flag.

Inside West Papua, people will bravely raise the West Papua flag in defiance of the occupying Indonesian regime. Once again we will are holding a competition for supporters around the world for the most dramatic display of the Morning Star. Full details and more updates can be found on our website here.

Protests are already planned in several cities around the world. Check our Facebook page for further updates in the coming days. Wherever you are, make sure you raise the West Papua flag next Sunday and use the #FreeWestPapua and #GlobalFlagRaising hashtags on all your social media posts.

Thanks for your ongoing support. With every day that passes, the people of West Papua are getting a step closer to achieving their inalienable human right to self-determination. West Papua will be free!
