JAKARTA, Jun 18, 2010 (AsiaPulse via COMTEX) --

PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia, a subsidiary of Singapore-based crude palm oil giant Wilmar International Ltd, plans a US$2 billion investment building a sugar refinery and sugar plantation in Papua.

Wilmar Nabati commissioner MP Tumanggor said a feasibility study is being conducted over a 100,000 hectare plot of land in Merauke, southern Papua.

The feasibility study, on which the production capacity of the factory would be set, will take around six months, Tumanggor said.

In addition, the company is also studying the condition of infrastructure in that area, which has poor infrastructure facility, he said.

If the government is not ready, the company would propose to build infrastructure on condition that it is given incentives, he said.
