There have been protests in Papua over Jakarta's supposed indifference to the territory.
West Papuan protesters have waved the banned separatist flag with hundreds of people rejecting the province's special autonomy status, which they said had not led to further development.
The protesters camped outside the provincial parliament in Jayapura overnight, to demand the government in Jakarta listen to demands for talks on a referendum for independence.
Indonesian police have warned the protestors their gathering has now been deemed illegal and have threatened to disperse them with force.
