CNN producer note

Mungkin says it was raining heavily, but there were no indications that there was going to be a flash flood. He said he didn't realize anything was happening until he saw water in the road and locals running as mud and debris rolled down a nearby hill.

iReport —

On the 4th of October, a flash flood devastated the Wasior region, in Papua, Indonesia, at around 8:30am local time.

After a night of consistent rain, the local people were caught off guard, when a raging torrent of mud, rocks, and other debris, suddenly came rushing down the hill side.

It took anything in its path, destroying houses, leaving many people seriously injured, while 15 people have been reported dead.

The death toll is expected to rise, as search and rescue teams are able to gain access to the area.

Here are some photos and a video of the aftermath of the flash flood. I was at the airport when it hit.
