President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has ordered Teluk Wondama of West Papua administration to send more heavy equipment to Wasior, which was swept by a flash food last week.

“The area needs more heavy equipment and personnel from the National Military,” Yudhoyono said Thursday during his visit to meet survivors in Wasior, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

He also requested the local administration provide clean water to survivors.

The flash flood claimed at least 150 lives, while about 140 people remain missing.

A local National Agency for Disaster Management in Manokwari has accommodated at least 4,700 Wasior refugees.
