JAYAPURA: The Jayapura municipality held a re-vote on Wednesday
following the cancellation of the previous election results by the
Constitutional Court.

Wednesday's election featured 238,000 voters and 118 ballot booths in
North Jayapura, South Jayapura, Abepura and Muara Tami districts.

The mayoral candidates and deputy candidates were Abisai
Rollo-Reynalda Kaisiepo, Benhur Tomi Mano-Nuralam, Musa Yan Youwe-
Rustan Saru, Jan Hendrik Hamadi- Lievielin Monim, Thobias Solossa-
Haryanto, Hendrik Toam-Jimmy Spensel Ansanay and Hendrik Warumi-Pene
Ifi Kogoya.

The results of the previous election on Nov. 11, 2010, were canceled
following a protest by candidates Hendrik Warumi-Pene Ifi Kogoya after
they were eliminated from the candidate list even though they had met
the administrative requirements.

Wednesday's election reportedly went smoothly, although many
complained that poll cards arrived late.

"I thought the election had been cancelled before a poll attendant
came over to deliver the cards only this morning," voter Kuncoro said.

The local election commission blamed the lagging poll cards on a
delayed fund disbursement.
