Jayapura Police is questioning seven people in connection with an attack on Bripda Ridwan Napitupulu by a group armed with knives and bows and arrows in Nimbrokang District, Jayapura, Papua on Thursday, the National Police says.

“There are seven people currently being questioned by police,” National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Saud Usman Nasution said Friday as quoted by tribunnews.com.

He added that the police had not determined the legal status of the seven individuals yet.

“We are still getting information from them. When it is finished, we will know whether they will be named as witnesses or suspects,” he said.

According to Saud, Ridwan was attacked by 15 unknown men on his way to check on a report of a Morning Star flag being raise in the village of Berap in Nimbokrang, Jayapura.

Ridwan is currently being treated at Youwari hospital in Sentani, Jayapura, after suffering injuries to his waist and face.
