As many as five suspects have been questioned by the Timika Police in relation to the latest shootings that caused the death of two PT Kuala Pelabuhan Indonesia (KPI) staff members, Masyum Simopiaref and Thomas Bagiarsa.

The shootings happened when the two were driving in a work vehicle in an area called Mile 51 near Timika.

“We have questioned five other KPI staff as witnesses. These people were the first to see the vehicle, which was in an overturned position, and had initially thought it was an accident,” Papua Police deputy chief Brig. Gen. Paulus Waterpauw said Wednesday.

When asked about who should be held responsible over this incident, Waterpauw said the shooting was likely conducted by the same group – which is still at large - that shot Herry Siregar and Deny Mansawan in April last year. (dic)
