The article “Public policies and politics in Papua” (The Jakarta Post, July 10, p. 6 by Wibawanto Nugroho) offers the truth about Papua in a nutshell and provides valuable insight on the social and economical conditions in the province.

Papua and West Papua hold some of the world’s richest reserves of copper, uranium, gold and silver as mentioned, while simultaneously recording the lowest human development index in Indonesia.

What is of paramount importance is education. This is one of the main issues that must be addressed to ensure a better future for Papua.

Following the five main objectives and utilizing the five measures outlined in Wibawanto’s article, would be an honest solution to the social dilemma and economic problems in the province that have been too long overlooked.

The No.1 man of Indonesia should take notice and enforce the changes to make a better Papua and a better Indonesia.
