The U.S. Embassy in Jakarta has been informed of planned demonstrations in the province of Papua, Indonesia on Tuesday, October 23.   Some demonstrations in Papua in the past have been associated with violence.  The U.S. government has postponed official travel to Papua Province at this time due to the potential for violence.  We advise, as always, that people should avoid large crowds and other gatherings.  We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates, if needed.
