Two blasts were heard from the inside of Soekarno Hatta International Airport’s post office on Friday at 11:40 a.m. and 12:05 p.m. respectively.

The blasts came from packages containing explosive materials that were sent from Pekalongan, Central Java, and intended for delivery to Papua, said a Gegana bomb squad member who was stationed at the post office, as quoted by tempo.co.

“The content of the package has been confirmed as a bomb,” said the bomb squad member, who requested anonymity.

No casualties have been reported.

The package, shaped like a shoe box, arrived at the post office at 3:15 a.m. Friday, said the post office’s quality and operational audit manager, Gustamar Shaleh.

The X-ray machine at the airport revealed the package contained two red wires, a detonator, some nails, and a battery wrapped inside a long tube, he added. (han)
