Merauke Police officer Brig. Levianus Ayomi was found dead from stab wounds at a police post on Jl.Trikora, Merauke, Papua, on Sunday.

The victim was found by his daughter, Demiyana Fetok, 11, at 6:30 a.m. local time in the police post, with his bloodied body lying face down on the ground. “The victim was found dead inside the post with stab wounds in his back,” Merauke Police chief Adj.Sr.Comr. Sri Satyama told The Jakarta Post on Sunday.

The motive behind the killing remains unknown. “We are still investigating the case,” Sri said.

The police chief further explained that four people had been questioned as witnesses, three of which were police officers.

“Preliminary results of the investigation revealed that the victim was alone at the post when the incident occurred as his two colleagues were on a patrol,” Sri said, adding that the police had also questioned Levianus’ daughter.

The police found Levianus’ motorbike still parked outside the post. “Both his pistol and motorcycle were still there. Only the key was taken away,” Sri added.
