The police arrested Yan Waris Sewa aka Titus Sewa (26), a member of the armed criminal group (KKB) who entered the DPO alias fugitive in the case of the TNI post attack in Maybrat, West Papua. It was revealed that Yan Waris had a special role in helping the killing of four TNI soldiers.

The Head of Public Relations of the West Papua Police, Kombes Adam Erwindi, said that the attack on the TNI post occurred on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 03.00 WIT. There were at least 30 KKB members who carried out the attack, including Yan Waris.

When the attack took place, the soldiers were sleeping so that the KKB members easily carried out the massacre. The attack also did not escape the special role of Yan Waris, which was to help monitor the surrounding area when the TNI Post attack in Maybrat was carried out.

According to Adam Erwindi, KKB members carried out the attack using machetes. As a result, four TNI members died. The four members of the Indonesian Army who died were Serda Amrosius, Praka Dirham, Private Zul Ansari and First Lieutenant Chb Dirman.

Yan Waris Sewa was arrested at his family home in Susumuk Village, Aifat District, Maybrat Regency, Friday (14/10). He was ambushed by the police at around 06.00 WIT. Police initially arrested 17 people at the location. However, based on the examination, it was proven that 16 other people were not involved in the attack on the TNI soldiers, so they were released.
