Police Arrest 11 DPOs Attacking Koramil Posts in West Papua

 

The police have arrested 10 of the 21 perpetrators of the attack on the Kisor Rayon Military  Command (Koramil) Post, in Maybrat Regency, West Papua who are on the wanted list (DPO). One DPO was arrested by a joint team of TNI and Polri in Susumuk Village, Aifat District, Maybrat Regency on Friday, October 14, 2022.

West Papua Police spokesman Adam Erwindi said most of the perpetrators had been arrested a few days after the incident. Some of the perpetrators who were arrested have been sentenced to court, and are now undergoing criminal proceedings.

“Arrested one DPO in the attack on the Ramil Kisor Post that occurred on September 2, 2021, on behalf of Yanwaris Sewa alias Yan alias Titus Sewa, 26 years old. So, the total number of DPOs who have been arrested in connection with the Kisor case have been 11 people. Most of them have gone through the process. The crime is from the 21 existing DPOs,” said Adam Erwindi in a press release, Tuesday (18/10/2022).

The spokesman for the West Papua Regional Police, Adam Erwindi, explained that at the time of the incident, Yanwaris Sewa was with other perpetrators in the attack. At that time, Yanwaris Sewa was in charge of monitoring the situation around the Koramil Post, when the perpetrators abused TNI soldiers who were guarding the post.

Until now, the police are still pursuing 10 other DPOs who are suspected of being involved in the attack on the Kisor Koramil Post. It is estimated that the perpetrators are still in the West Papua region. In the early hours of Saturday, September 2, 2021, dozens of people attacked the Kisor Command Post, South Aifat District, Maybrat Regency, West Papua. As a result of the attack, four TNI soldiers died, and two others suffered stab wounds with sharp objects.
