The existence of armed criminal groups (KKB) in a number of mountainous areas in central Papua continues to be troubling because their actions often result in loss of life and property. There are several districts that are still vulnerable to KKB actions, such as Puncak, Yahukimo, Nduga and Intan Jaya.

The Nemangkawi Task Force, which was formed by the government to deal with the KKB since 2018, has been mapping the strengths of these groups, which generally have modern weapons.

There are at least five major groups that have been mapped by the Nemangkawi Task Force with their leaders being Lekagak Telenggen, Egianus Kogoya, Jhony Botak, Demianus Magai Yogi and Sabinus Waker. However, from the existing list of groups, there are two names of groups that are considered the most dangerous.

“The Egianus and Lekagak groups are the most dangerous. The Egianus group are all young people, if the Lekagak group has a complete structure,” said Head of the Law Enforcement Task Force (Gakum) Nemangkawi, Kombes Faisal Ramadhani.
